Every two years my family and I take a holiday down to Cornwall for a week during Easter. It is my top choice to visit and the scenery never ceases to amaze me.
We had not explored the ruins of Tintagel Castle despite our many visits to Cornwall so this year we decided we would spend the day wandering around the historical site. Tintagel Castle is famous for being home to the legend of King Arthur.
During my time in the North East of England I also visited Rievaulx Abbey, the first Cistercian abbey to be founded in the North of the country in 1132. It soon became on of the most spiritually renowned centres of monasticism in Britain. These are my favourite photographs from my walk around the ruins.
It truly is a spectacular place that I highly recommend people visit.
The North East of England is rife with historical abbey ruins dating back to the 12th Century. During my recent trip I visited Byland Abbey, one of the most ambitious Cistercian abbey’s built during the 1100 as it was designed house around 100 monks and 200 lay brothers.
